Associate Strategy Director

The associate strategy director provides strategic leadership for assigned projects and client relationships, developing strategic directions and presenting them persuasively to clients.

In this role, you will identify consumer insights and opportunities and translate them into actionable ideas and plans, incorporating a range of tactics, channels, and media. You’ll work closely with the client service and creative teams, and will partner regularly with your colleagues on the strategy team. This role provides strong foundation for the overall Ologie offer. Ideally, your background will include a solid track record of innovative strategic thinking that has driven results.

Position Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in discovering and articulating client insights and translating them into strategic and creative platforms
  • Guide the team’s approach in the discovery and definition phases of a project
  • Originate, create, and own client presentations
  • Direct and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research that answers key questions and provides fodder for strategic insights
  • Oversee research efforts conducted with a third parties
  • Collaborate with the account team to gain client approval for recommended strategic direction
  • Work across teams within the agency to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies
  • Partner with the account and creative teams to provide a strong rationale for the work to the clients
  • Provide ideas and possible directions that could inform account planning with a client, ultimately assisting in the organic growth of client relationships
  • Help identify and generate new business and revenue by working with the account, creative, and new business teams on strategic development
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts
  • Mentor junior strategists

Success in this role will be aided by the following required skills:

  • An advanced understanding of integrated marketing principles, including digital, direct, and database marketing; experience with brand strategy is a plus
  • The ability to synthesize information from various sources to create an actionable point of view and direction
  • A curious and collaborative approach to developing work
  • The ability to convert strategic plans into actionable ones
  • The ability to think outside the limits of a project’s scope, looking for bigger opportunities to advance the client’s brand
  • A high level of resourcefulness, with strong research skills and a working knowledge of marketing analytics

  • The ability to work proactively and independently
  • A highly creative mind, with first-rate conceptual skills
  • Exceptional visual, oral, and written communication skills; experience as a captivating presenter
  • Exceptional listening skills
  • The ability to influence and persuade, with a strong affinity for collaboration
  • A strong deadline orientation, with the ability to effectively prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
  • The ability to work in a flexible, dynamic, and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and accounts concurrently

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications, or equivalent work experience
  • 7 years of experience as a strategist or planner in marketing, advertising, or branding, with proficiency in creating, leading, and successfully pitching digital, direct, or integrated marketing strategies and solutions
  • Agency experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to travel
