Product Owner

We’re looking for super-smart dot-connectors to join our digital team. Interested?

As a product owner in Ologie’s digital studio, you’ll be a member of the scrum team who’s responsible for gathering requirements and defining backlog stories for our projects with .edu websites.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Project discovery and requirements

  • Lead conversations with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to understand and define requirements for processes and functionality
  • Conduct competitor audits and research
  • Coordinate with the analytics specialist to gather data for decision making
  • Own discovery checklists, discovery spreadsheets, and taxonomy documents, in partnership with strategy team

Backlog ownership

  • Create and maintain the team backlog, with input from engineering and other stakeholders
  • Hold refinement meetings with the scrum team as needed
  • Create acceptance criteria for each story in the backlog
  • Ensure backlog items are prioritized based on value, time, and other team dependencies
  • Provide additional story details as needed by the team during sprint planning
  • Review and accept stories as done at the end of each sprint
  • Validate that each story meets acceptance criteria, has the appropriate persistent acceptance tests, and otherwise complies with its definition of done

Team support

  • Support the scrum team during the sprint, provide clarification as needed, and facilitate an open and communicative environment
  • Review and accept stories for the team demo
  • Work continually with the full digital team to improve internal workflows and processes

To be successful in the role, you’ll have:

  • Critical thinking, including the ability to distill key insights and adapt accordingly
  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to listen, understand, and translate information to various audiences.

  • Flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Availability and willingness to travel regionally and nationally, as necessary, for discovery working sessions

Other Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related area of study
  • 3 years related work experience 
  • Attention to detail, organization, a rigorous thought process and the ability to translate complexity simply and clearly
  • Familiarity with CMS Platforms and Analytics tools
  • Strong research, quantitative and analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making 
  • Exceptional ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Scrum/Agile experience a plus
  • Team Player
