University of California, Davis

The university’s work spans many fields that affect countless lives: Climate change research. The nation’s leading vet school. Feeding the world’s growing population. These are issues that require big minds and bigger ideas. But if UC Davis was going to continue developing emerging insights and groundbreaking solutions, it needed some big help from its donors.

Expect Greater

UC Davis engaged Ologie to help the university shape a historic $2 billion capital campaign. The primary goal was to build new levels of support regionally and nationally, from a broad range of audiences: current and potential donors, grateful patients and clients, campus friends and supporters, and alumni.

To spark such support, we needed to put the university’s work front and center — but in a way that inspired both people who were familiar with the school, and those who weren’t. The campaign’s brand also had to capture the immensity of UC Davis’s impact and clearly communicate how its work influences people’s lives every day.

When it came to great stories to tell, there was a lot to cover. So we made the decision to make them even greater. We crafted strategic language that not only became the campaign’s pillars, but perfectly captured the universality of the school’s far-reaching work.

So: At UC Davis, it’s more than art. It’s sparking innovation and creativity. It’s more than giving back; it’s sustaining healthier communities. It’s more than mentorship; it’s preparing change-makers. It’s more than treating patients; it’s reimagining medicine. This idea also became the key to the campaign’s platform: Expect Greater. No matter the field, no matter how great the work that had come before, UC Davis was always searching for, dreaming up, and creating something greater.
