Attracting your best-fit student vs. trying to attract them all

Founded in 1873 as a school for training teachers, Southeast Missouri State University today offers more than 200 programs for nearly 12,000 students on two campuses in Cape Girardeau. In the face of an ever-competitive marketplace, the institution’s leaders were seeking to better define who Southeast is today, and to better position the university for the future.

With these goals in mind, Ologie worked together with Southeast to articulate a brand that instilled pride in the university and increased awareness and engagement. The result was a brand that went beyond selling the university’s cutting-edge programs, underscoring what its students and faculty all have in common: the hunger to learn and the will to do.

Since our work together, Southeast Missouri State achieved the highest retention rate in school history – that’s a total enrollment of more than 11,500 students with 75% returning. The fall 2016 semester also brought its largest freshman class, which has grown by 10%.
